Diego Luna Named 2024 Utah Male Professional Athlete Of The Year

SALT LAKE CITY – Real Salt Lake midfielder Diego Luna was named the 2024 Male Professional Athlete of the Year by the Utah Sports Commission on Monday.
For his contributions both in the MLS and for the USMNT, Luna was given some much-deserved recognition.

Diego Luna Honored With Male Professional Athlete Of The Year Award
Last season for RSL, Luna started in 26 games and recorded eight goals and 10 assists in a year where Real finished near the top of the Western Conference.
Luna also played in two games for U.S. Soccer and posted one assist.
Real Salt Lake posted a video on X of Luna and his reaction to the honor.

“Just wanted to say how extremely grateful I am for being able to win Utah Male Professional Athlete of the Year,” Luna said. “Just wanted to reach out to everybody and say thanks. From the RSL fans to every Utah fan that put me up for this award. Let’s keep it going.”
The Utah State of Sport Awards were created in 2012 by the Utah Sports Commission, in partnership with the Governor, to “celebrate Utah’s sports industry and recognize excellence at the high school, collegiate, professional, and Olympic and Paralympic levels.”
Recent winners of the Professional Male Award include Puka Nacua, Tony Finau, and Rudy Gobert.
