SALT LAKE CITY – Midfielder Braian Ojeda put Real Salt Lake on the board early in game two of the Leagues Cup against Atlético de San Luis.
Off a corner kick, Pablo Ruiz sent the ball across the center of the net, and Ojeda stepped in from the back post to slam it in.

The goal was Ojeda’s first outside of MLS competitions.
The early score was far from a sign that Real could take their foot off the gas, though. In the first Leagues Cup match against América, RSL also scored in the first 20 minutes but the other side was able to equalize before the half. The match eventually went to penalty kicks.
That same story threatened to repeat in match two. Atlético de San Luis forward João Pedro rose up for an equalizing header in the 24th minute.
Real Salt Lake did an excellent job of staying both aggressive and composed in match one. They were left with over 60 minutes of action to get back on top for their first win of the tournament.

Real Salt Lake Manages Two Points To Open Leagues Cup
Club América stunned the home crowd in the final seconds of regulation, but couldn’t maintain momentum in penalty kicks. The visitors earned a point, succumbing to Rafael Cabral in penalties, allowing Real Salt Lake to earn two points.
