Agada Scores Second Goal To Lead Real Salt Lake Past Houston

SANDY, Utah- William Agada tallied his second goal of the season to lead Real Salt Lake past the Houston Dynamo 1-0, increasing its unbeaten streak to four games.
Real Salt Lake (7-10-4, 23 points) hosted the Houston Dynamo (7-10-5, 26 points) at America First Field on Saturday, July 12.

First Half
The Claret & Cobalt welcomed Diego Luna back into the fold following his Gold Cup run with the U.S. Men’s National Team.
Luna immediately leapt into the starting lineup, joining a team that was riding a three-game unbeaten streak, their longest of the season.

The opening 20 minutes were occupied by both sides probing the other, rather than attacking.
Possession was split nearly 50/50 with seven shot attempts between the squads.
Diogo Gonçalves had a near miss in the 21st minute, keeping the match level.
The first yellow came in the 35th minute when Felipe Andrade upended RSL’s Alexandros Katranis late in the midfield.

Luna had a chance to create fireworks in the 41st minute, but a leaping, one-handed deflection from Jonathan Bond kept things level.
Seconds later, William Agada took advantage of a set piece, finding the ball at his feet after a corner kick, for a 1-0 lead with his second goal with the team.

Real Salt Lake led 1-0 after 45 minutes, plus stoppage time.
Second Half
Houston had a golden opportunity to even the match 1-1, but Noel Caliskan created a deflection nine yards out, pushing the shot offline.
The Dynamo attack challenged repeatedly in the first 25 minutes of the half but couldn’t break through against a stingy defense.

Agada picked up a yellow in the 72nd minute after a bad tackle. He was subbed out for Philip Quinton in the closing minutes.
Ariath Piol nearly scored an MLS Goal of the Year challenger in stoppage time, but was turned away by a spectacular save.

RSL held on for the one-goal victory.
