Salt Lake Bees Announce Coaching Staff Ahead Of 2022 Season

SALT LAKE CITY – The Salt Lake Bees announced on Friday afternoon their coaching staff ahead of the 2022 baseball season, which is scheduled to begin on April 5.

Highlighting the coaching staff is the return of Lou Marson as the manager for the Salt Lake Bees, who is back for his third season. Pitching coach Jairo Cuevas, hitting coach Brian Betancourth, coach Ray Olmedo and athletic trainer Jonathan Fierro are joining Marson. Strength and conditioning coach Paul Cater, game planning strategist Evan Roberts and video assistant Kyle Parisi are new additions to the staff for the 2022 season.

Marson became the Bees manager before the 2019 season and has been with the Los Angeles Angels organization since 2017 when he was the hitting coach in Salt Lake. He was a fourth round draft pick to the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2004 MLB Draft and played 12 seasons in professional baseball, including stints with the Phillies and the Cleveland Indians.

Ceuvas is back with the Bees for a second season. He has been with the Angels organization since 2015. Cuevas spent six seasons as a Minor League pitcher in the Braves and Royals organizations. He helped lead 10 Salt Lake pitchers to their debuts in the Major League with the Angels.

Betancourth is entering his third season with the Bees as the hitting coach. He helped the team reach 189 home runs in 2021, which was the sixth-most in Minor League Baseball.

Olmedo is the longest tenured coach on the Bees staff after joining the club in 2018. He played 17 seasons of professional baseball, including stops with the Cincinnati Reds, Toronto Blue Jays and Chicago White Sox.

The Salt Lake Bees will begin their 2022 season on April 5 against Tacoma. Their first home game will be against Las Vegas on April 12.
