SOUTH JORDAN, Utah – The Ballpark at America First Square, a project over two years in the making, is two weeks away from its baseball inauguration. The new Salt Lake Bees ballpark promises to be a minor league baseball crown jewel.
After enjoying what many consider the best view in the sport at their previous home across the valley, Beehive baseball fans can rejoice in knowing the Wasatch mountain range is prominently featured beyond the centerfield wall.
“The point is the mountains right there,” ten-year veteran Bees manager and Salt Lake City resident Keith Johnson. “Now the mountain view goes all the way around, but you can definitely tell we’re a little bit farther away from the mountains than we were at Smith’s. I’m sure the view from up there is going to be absolutely phenomenal.”
The Bees, Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, hosted media day at The Ballpark on Wednesday, March 26.

Nestled near the Kennecott Copper Mines to the west, and a fast-developing Daybreak neighborhood, the ballpark will surely become the center of a bustling year-round community. Locals will also find a Megaplex Theatre beyond the left field fence when the Bees are out of town or season.
Inside, assorted food trucks, a nine-hole mini-golf course, and stunning views will occupy fans of all ages.
Johnson praised the new park for incorporating player amenities with a top-of-the-line playing surface. He specifically cited a batter’s eye that will be covered in ivy, limiting glare for batters early in games.
“The esthetics of the ballpark,” Johnson said with a smile. “What it looks like, there’s a little bit more character to it.”
