Alex Smith Ready To Make NFL Comeback

LANDOVER, M.D. – After speculation on whether or not Alex Smith would play again, the former Ute is ready to make a comeback to the NFL.
He will not play this season for the Washington Redskins, but is going to take the season to rehab is broken leg that he suffered last season.
Smith is currently on crutches with his leg in a brace.

But the former Ute is embracing this challenge and tells NBCSportsWashington.com and Redskins play-by-play voice Larry Michael that he still enjoys being around the team.
“It’s definitely a different for me, a different capacity,” Smith said. “I’m loving being down here; I’m glad I came down. This whole experience for me has kind of been flexible with my rehab and coming back. I made the decision to come down here, and I’m really happy with it. It’s nice to be around the guys. Selfishly for me, it’s helped me pass some time. I’ve been getting good work in, but at the same time, obviously a different role, almost like a coach a little bit, especially with the quarterbacks.”
Smith has also been helping the quarterbacks on the roster, which includes Colt McCoy, Case Keenum, first round draft pick Dwayne Haskins.
Now that things are looking good for Smith, he confirms that he wants to comeback to the NFL and play football.
“I still feel like I’m young at heart and got a lot left ahead of me. I want to take that on,” Smith said.
