SALT LAKE CITY – Tony Finau will embark on his first 2022/23 season event when he tees it up at the Mayakoba Golf Classic at El Camaleon Golf Club in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

The last tournament Finau featured in was the Presidents Cup when he contributed to Team USA’s emphatic victory over the international squad.

Welcome Back, Tony

He concluded the 2021/22 PGA Tour season in terrific form, winning back-to-back tournaments for the first time in his career. Last season also marked the first campaign in which Finau won more than one PGA event.

The 2022/23 PGA season will hopefully bring more accolades to a growing list for Finau. He has not been shy about wanting to win a major, it is the next big accomplishment Finau hopes to tick off the list.

His career to date has involved multiple close finishes at majors. He has entered 26 major championships over his career and has finished inside the top 10 on 10 occasions. Of the 10 top 10 finishes, 4 of them have been top 5 finishes. Most recently, Finau finished the 2019 Open Championship in lone 3rd.

Sadly, the 2021/22 season concluded without a top-10 finish in any of the four majors. He missed the cut at The U.S. Open while his best major finish in 2021/22 came at The Open when he concluded in a tie for 28th.

This year, Finau is looking to put it all together. Win multiple PGA Tour events for a consecutive season while also seriously contending at the majors. Since turning pro in 2014/15, Finau is yet to win multiple tournaments while contending at majors.

Tony Finau Entering His Prime

It appears that Finau is entering the prime of his career and that the 2022/23 PGA season could likely be his most successful yet.

Nevertheless, Finau has enjoyed the time off as of late. He has been spending much-needed time with his growing family and has been visiting close friends and family members in Salt Lake City, Utah. Finau has also been spotted doing charity work for the Tony Finau Foundation.

The off-season has come and gone for Finau. It is time to return to the PGA Tour, much to the delight of his global fanbase.

Last year, Finau finished the Mayakoba Golf Classic in a share of 45th. His best finish came in the 2020/21 season when he finished in a tie for eighth.

The Mayakoba Classic has always been one of the first events of the season for Finau. This year is no different.

Tee times and pairings ahead of this week will be announced by the PGA Tour later in the week.
