Utah Grizzlies To Begin Process Of Exploring Potential Sale

SALT LAKE CITY – On Sunday evening, Elmore Sports Group officially announced that the organization will begin exploring the potential sale of the Utah Grizzlies.

Utah Grizzlies ownership to explore selling the team

Following 20 years as Utah’s ECHL team, the Grizzlies will begin looking for new ownership.

After the passing of Dave Elmore in 2023 and the declining health of his wife Donna Tuttle, the family has been unable to remain actively involved in the organization which ultimately led to the decision to explore a potential sale.

“This is an emotional and difficult moment for our family and our organization,” Elmore Sports Group stated.

“Utah has been more than a home – it has been part of our identity. But ensuring the Grizzlies have the opportunity to thrive in the future may require new ownership and, potentially, a new home.”

Notably, this announcement also follows the recent and tragic passing of Grizzlies President and CEO Kevin Bruder, who passed away at the age of 56 in early May.

What’s the process of selling the Utah Grizzlies?

As outlined by the team, no sale or relocation has been finalized by the organization and the Grizzlies will compete during the 2025-26 season as scheduled.

However, if the team does sell, any new ownership or potential relocation would have to be approved by the ECHL and other stakeholders.

“Over the coming months, the organization will continue conversations with the ECHL and local leaders to ensure the best possible path forward. The Grizzlies will share updates as decisions unfold,” the press release stated.

As of right now, the Grizzles still have one year remaining on their affiliation agreement with the Colorado Avalanche.

Meanwhile, the Utah Mammoth signed just a one-year deal with Allen Americans for their inaugural season.
