Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Welcoming Pro Sports Leagues, Teams That Need Place To Operate

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said any pro sports leagues and teams that need a place to compete are welcome to play in Florida.

A video was released on Wednesday on Twitter extending the invitation.

“All of these professional sports are welcome in Florida,” DeSantis said. “That might not be the case in every other state in this country as we have seen. What I would tell commissioners of leagues is if you have a team in an area where they just won’t let them operate, we will find a place for you in the state of Florida. Because we think it’s important and it can be done safely.”

After sports was shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic beginning March 11, certain states are beginning to allow sports to be played without fans. Arizona is opening their state to sports beginning Saturday. Others like certain spots in California is remaining shutdown until July.

Major League Baseball could possibly return as early as the Fourth of July weekend if the players union approves the proposal by the commissioner.

The NBA is two to four weeks away from deciding whether or not to resume their season.
