SLCC Bruins Bash Way To JUCO World Series Title Game

GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado – Are the Salt Lake Community College Bruins baseball bunch a team of destiny in 2025? It’s shaping up that way after SLCC avenged an earlier JUCO World Series loss with a 12-2 throttling of the Lake Land Lakers to reach the championship game on Saturday.

The Bruins opened the scoring with two runs in the first inning, loading the bases on free passes against the Lakers’ top reliever.
Salt Lake cruised from there, expanding the advantage to 7-2 in the fifth. Two innings later, SLCC plated five runs in the seventh to earn the mercy rule-shortened win.
Jaxon Grossman got the start, scattering six hits and striking out seven in a six-inning masterpiece. Grossman didn’t walk a batter and gave up two hits while throwing just 80 pitches.
Jake Olsen went 3-for-4 with a triple. Hudson Manwaring and Chandler Reber added homers for the championship-bound Bruins.
Game One
The Bruins opened the week with a 16-2 blowout over Florida Southwestern.

Starting pitcher Jaxon Grossman (5-0) allowed one run on two hits, striking out five in five innings to earn the win. Dallin Weatherly punched out four to finish the final two innings.
Hudson Manwaring went 4-for-5, scoring a run and driving in five. Jalen Seward and Jake Mortenson tallied two hits each. Luke Jacobs reached three times, driving in a trio of runs and scoring twice.
The Bruins drew 14 bases on balls and pounded out 16 hits.
Game Two
A 16-game SLCC winning streak came to a crushing end in an 11-9 loss to the No. 9 Lake Land Lakers.

Easton Davies was saddled with the loss after giving up four runs (three earned) in two innings of relief. Gage Olsen surrendered six runs (five earned) in five innings.
Luke Jacobs homered, finishing the day 2-for-4 at the plate with three RBI and two runs scored.
Game Three
The Bruins responded with their first game in the consolation bracket, handing Shelton State a stinging 15-13 loss.

Dan Brousseau threw 2.1 critical relief innings, allowing the bats to mount a comeback after falling behind 13-11 after five and a half innings.
Salt Lake scored runs in the final five innings to keep its season alive.
Jalen Seward, Avery Doezie, and Chandler Reber homer for the Bruins. SLCC amassed 16 hits as a team, including five extra-base knocks.
Game Four
The Bruins put themselves in a hole after giving up a ten-run first inning to Florence-Darlington Technical College. Despite the big hole, the team battled back to stun the Junior College world with a 17-16 win.

Trailing by a run in the eighth and Luke Jacobs on base, Doezie launched his second homer of the tournament to complete the epic comeback.

Hudson Manwaring homered twice, and Chandler Reber added his second of the week. Six SLCC batters roped seven doubles.
Darius Henderson earned the save with a 1-2-3 ninth inning.
