CHICAGO, Illinois – Mikhail Sergachev kept a loose puck alive in the offensive end, resulting in a Nick Schmaltz goal to give Utah Hockey Club an early 1-0.
The Blackhawks (19-35-8, 46 points) host Utah HC (28-25-9, 65 points) at the United Center on Friday, March 7. Chicago is the second-worst team in the Western Conference, while Utah battles with teams for the final wild-card spot in the West.
Calgary holds the final playoff spot with 68 points. The Vancouver Canucks (67 points), St. Louis Blues (66 points) and Utah are hot on their tail. Utah HC is 16-12-3 on the road, has won four of their past five games, and is 7-3 in the last ten.

Pure hustle paid off for Andre Tourigny’s team 56 seconds into the game.
After Sergachev’s tenacity kept the puck alive, Clayton Keller sent the puck toward the net from a sharp angle. Schmaltz was waiting on the doorstep for his 14th goal. The assist was Keller’s 49th.
