SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Hockey Club couldn’t hang on to a two-goal lead against Anaheim but pulled out a 3-2 win on a late Dylan Guenther goal.

Utah HC (29-25-11, 69 points) hosted the Anaheim Ducks (28-30-7, 63 points) at Delta Center on Wednesday, March 12. Following the win, the club is two points out of a playoff spot.

Utah is 16-12-4 at home, while Anaheim is 13-14-5 on the road. The Ducks are 2-0 against Utah this season, including a 5-4 shootout win at Delta Center on December 22.

Captain Clayton Keller enters the night riding a three-game assists streak. Keller’s 73 points (23 goals, 50 assists) are tenth in the NHL, and he is far and away Utah’s leading scorer. His 50 assists are a career-high, and his next helper will move Keller into fifth place in NHL history for a franchise’s inaugural season.

Nick Schmaltz’s 50 points (15 goals, 35 assists) is second. Schmaltz and Barrett Hayton join Keller on three-game point streaks. Fleet-footed Logan Cooley has burst onto the scene with Utah, tallying 17 goals and 30 assists while becoming one of the club’s most exciting skaters and puck handlers.

Karel Vejmelka continues to be Utah’s man in the net. The fourth-year pro has made huge strides through his first season in Salt Lake, earning a five-year contract extension before last week’s trade deadline. Vejmelka is tenth in the league, allowing 2.49 goals against.

Anaheim doesn’t have a player with 50 points but boasts a well-rounded roster with six players over 30 points. Rightwinger Troy Terry leads the group with 17 goals and 30 assists. Frank Vatrano is the Ducks’ leading goal scorer, having found the back of the net 19 times.

Lucas Dostal has made 40 starts in goal for Anaheim, allowing 2.83 goals against and registering a .912 save percentage.
