Weber State Athletics Set To Begin Process Of Reopening Facilities For Voluntary Workouts

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Weber State Athletics is set to begin the process of reopening campus facilities for student-athletes to use for voluntary workouts.
In order to reopen its athletic facilities for use, Weber State will start by screening players due to the coronavirus pandemic.
A Weber State Athletics spokesperson told KSLSports.com that the Wildcats will officially begin the process of screening student-athletes on Monday, June 1.
After that process is completed, the Wildcats “anticipate opening our facilities for voluntary workouts.”

Weber State, like other colleges and universities around the country, has had its athletic facilities closed since March due to the spread of COVID-19. The Wildcats had just begun spring football practices when the pandemic halted things.

By reopening athletic facilities to student-athletes, the Wildcats are taking the first step in returning their sports programs back to some state of normalcy.
Weber State is currently scheduled to begin its football season in early September. Assuming that the college football schedule isn’t already due to the pandemic, the Wildcats will open the 2020 season when they play the Wyoming Cowboys on September 5 in Laramie, Wyoming.
The Wildcats football team was ranked No. 6 in the Hero Sports FCS Top 25 preseason poll.
Weber State finished the 2019 season with a record of 11-4 and lost in the semifinals of the FCS Playoffs.
