Utah Valley Clinches WAC Regular Season Crown

ABILENE, Texas – Utah Valley clinched the Western Athletic Conference regular-season title with a 73-60 road win over Abilene Christian. The Wolverines have won six straight games and haven’t fallen since a February 1 loss to Grand Canyon.
The Wildcats (15-15, 7-8) hosted UVU (22-7, 14-1) on Thursday, March 6.

Dominick Nelson’s 22 points led all scorers. Tanner Toolson was the only other Wolverine in double figures, finishing with 14. Trevan Leonhardt added eight points and seven rebounds.
Ten of 11 Wolverines to play scored a point. UVU shot 46.3 percent (25-of-54) and made three shots from deep. Utah Valley attempted 19 more free throws than Abilene Christian, making 20-of-32 from the line.

Leonardo led the Wildcats with 20 points but was an inefficient 9-of-21 from the field. He added eight rebounds before fouling out late. Bradyn Hubbard chipped in 17 points and nine rebounds.
UVU’s defense held Abilene Christian to 33.8 percent shooting (24-of-71) and outrebounded them 49-36. The Wolverines overcame a 19-to-11 turnover disadvantage.

Utah Valley closes the regular season in Stephenville, Texas, on Saturday, March 8, against Tarleton State. Tip-off is at 6 p.m. MT.
The 2025 WAC Basketball Tournament will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the Orleans Arena from Wednesday, March 12, through Saturday, March 15. The winner earns the conference’s automatic bid into the 2025 NCAA Tournament. All WAC tournament games will be broadcast on ESPN+, with the final airing on ESPN2.
