At the second MTO of the night, Utah was up 16-15 over the Ducks.

Under-12 Timeout

Pelle Larsson found Mikael Jantunen as he was diving to the basket and the sophomore finished the layup which gave the Utes the lead but Oregon tied it up right after.

Oregon had their only lead of the game to this point at the under-8 media timeout. They were up 21-20 with 7:18 remaining until halftime. Timmy Allen and Pelle Larsson had 6 points apiece. Mikael Jantunen and Alfonso Plummer each had 4 points. That was all of Utah’s points.

Under-8 Timeout

Oregon had a three point lead before Timmy Allen scored back-to-back buckets. The first basket gave him 1,000 career points in his young Utah basketball career.

That forced Oregon to call a timeout with Utah up 26-25. Utah ended this segment with an 11-0 run and had a 33-25 lead over the Ducks. It was their largest lead of the game. Timmy Allen was a big part of it with 14 points.

It’s a different Utah team that we saw against USC when they made just four of their 30 field goal attempts in the second half. Oregon made just 36 percent of their field goals.

Second Half

Oregon came out firing as they jumped out to a 7-0 run before Utah scored their first bucket of the second half. By the first media timeout, the Ducks were on a 12-4 run and Utah’s lead was just 47-45 with 15:52 left in the game.

Pelle Larsson and Mikael Jantunen each had a bucket for Utah to start the second half.

Just before the media timeout, Allen threw a lob to Larsson, who finished the play with a layup. Oregon called a timeout. Utes had a 57-54 lead with 10:52 left in the game.

Under-12 Timeout

Exactly three minutes went by between media timeouts. During that stretch Utah scored two points and Oregon had four points. The Runnin’ Utes held a slim lead over the Ducks, 59-58 with 7:52 remaining in the game.

Under-8 Timeout

Despite making 6 of their last 8 field goals, Utah found themselves trailing the Ducks 65-61 near the under-four media timeout. The Runnin’ Utes continue to show fight which is great to see. At the final media timeout, Oregon had a 67-61 lead with under four minutes left.

Under-4 Timeout

Larsson made a layup to trim the deficit to 67-63 with 2:53 left. On Oregon’s next possession, Rylan Jones took a charge. The sophomore guard came down and made a layup to cut the lead to 67-65. For the second straight possession, Jones took a charge.

The Runnin’ Utes couldn’t capitalize on the possession as Allen missed the open three-pointer. Chris Duarte got the ball down low and made the layup while getting fouled. Oregon’s lead was up to 70-65 with under two minutes left.

Riley Battin answered with a three-pointer and Utah called a timeout with 1:40 left and trailing 70-68. Oregon responded with a bucket on the other end. Mikael Jantunen missed a layup with one minute left in the game.

Allen made two free throws on the Utes’ possession and Oregon’s lead was 74-70 with 39 seconds left. Oregon made it a two-possession game after making a pair of free throws.

The Ducks picked up a 79-73 win over the Utes.
