Fano, who just concluded his sophomore season with the Utes, made massive strides in his development. Even after earning freshman All-American honors, Fano made a major leap this past season.
His efforts this past season are hard to recognize given Utah’s offensive struggles. However, Pro Football Focus named him in their Top 101 players of the 2024 season.
Spencer Fano Is No. 30 In Top 101 Players
Fano, who started all 12 games in 2024 at right tackle, was a first-team All-Big 12 selection after another standout performance on the line. Fano is Utah’s first offensive lineman to earn a spot on the PFF All-America list after also being named to their Midseason All-America team.
“Fano was the Power Four’s highest-graded offenisve lineman as just a true sophomore, earning a 93.0 mark that also led all tackles in the nation. His 93.6 run-blocking grade was over three points higher than any other FBS tackle, and he surrendedered only one sack on 406 pass-blocking snaps.” – Pro Football Focus
According to PFF, his 93.6 run-blocking grade was higher than any other offensive tackle in college football. His pass protection of 79.4 was also near the top of the list. Fano did not allow a single sack since the first week of the season.
A true sophomore, Fano has played in 25 career games with 24 starts (13 at RT, 11 at LT). His PFF All-America honor in 2024 is the second of his career, also earning CFN Freshman All-America first-team in 2023.
