Utah Football Announces 2021 Spring Captains

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The University of Utah football team announced its 2021 spring captains.
The Utes posted the names of their five captains on social media on Friday, February 5.
2021 Spring Captains
Nick Ford, Cameron Rising, Britain Covey, Devin Lloyd, and Mika Tafua were selected as the team’s captains for spring football.

Nick Ford
Ford is a junior offensive lineman from San Pedro, California.
During his time at Utah, Ford had played in 30 games, including 26 starts. He is a two-time All-Pac-12 offensive lineman.
Cameron Rising
Rising is a sophomore quarterback from Ventura, California.
After redshirting in 2019, Rising played in one game in 2020. He suffered a season-ending injury against No. 20 USC and finished the game 3-6 passing for 45 yards and an interception.
Britain Covey
Covey is a junior wide receiver from Provo, Utah.
During his Utes career, Covey has played in 33 games, including 17 starts. He led Utah in receiving yards in 2015, 2018, and 2020. He’s earned four All-Pac-12 selections.
Covey owns careers stats of 132 receptions for 1,497 yards and eight touchdowns.
Devin Lloyd
Lloyd is a junior linebacker from Chula Vista, California.
He’s earned All-Pac-12 honors twice during his Utah career and was named All-America second-team by Sporting News in 2020.
Lloyd has started in 19 of his 33 career games with the Utes. He owns career statistics of 145 total tackles, 84 solo tackles, 21.0 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, one interception, three pass breakups, and one forced fumble.
Mika Tafua
Tafua is a junior defensive lineman from Laie, Hawaii.
During his Utah career, Tafua has played in 30 games, including 24 starts. He’s received All-Pac-12 honors twice.
Tafua has recorded 84 total tackles, 42 solo tackles, 19.0 tackles for loss, 8.0 sacks, six pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries during his time with the Utes.
