How 14 In-State Utah Football Targets Are Performing Through Two Weeks Of HS Season

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – We are two weeks into the Utah high school football season. Many of the targets that Utah football are pursuing around the state are performing well.

Utah has 14 recruits that they have offered scholarships that are currently playing high school football in the state of Utah, from the 2021 and 2022 classes.

Here is the latest in-game stats and facts from each Utah football recruiting target from the state of Utah in the 2021 and 2022 classes. These are players that have either verbally committed to Utah or has not decided on where to play college football yet but has received an offer from Utah.

2021 Targets

Viliami Po’uha, DE, Bingham

The weak-side defensive end for the Miners had his first game of the season against Weber canceled after three Bingham players tested positive for COVID-19. They lost to No. 4 Skyridge, 35-7 last week.

Po’uha verbally committed to Utah on June 8, 2020.

No. 10 Bingham will host No. 1 Corner Canyon on Friday at 8 p.m. on ESPN.

Isaac Vaha, TE/DE, Pleasant Grove

In the season opening 35-7 win over Riverton, Vaha caught one pass for 30 yards and ran the ball once for seven yards as a tight end. As a defensive end, Vaha recorded on assisted tackle, one sack and a pass deflection.

Last week in their 19-14 win over Maple Mountain, Vaha hauled in 4 catches for 67 yards, including a crucial catch on third down to seal the Vikings’ win.

No. 6 Pleasant Grove will host Jordan at 7 p.m. on Friday.

Vaha has narrowed his list down to three, including Utah, BYU and UCLA.

Kingsley Suamataia, OT, Orem

Against Mountain View in the season opener, Suamataia and Orem’s talented offensive line allowed just one sack in their 51-14 win. The Tigers threw for 234 yards and rushed for 116 yards and 7 total touchdowns.

Last week in their 24-0 win over East, Orem threw for 301 yards and 3 touchdowns while the running game was effective with 128 yards on the ground.

The No. 5 Tigers will travel to No. 4 Skyridge on Friday at 7 p.m.

Suamataia listed his top 7 schools, including Utah, Oregon, USC, Arkansas, Virginia, BYU and Utah State.

Logan Fano, DE, Timpview

In their Week 1 loss to Lone Peak, 24-0, Fano threw racked up 7 tackles and hauled in an interception. Fano would’ve scored a touchdown off of the pick if a penalty wasn’t called on Timpview during the return.

Last week in their 31-21 loss to American Fork, Fano piled up nine tackles.

Timpview’s game against Provo on Friday was canceled after Provo had players test positive for COVID-19.

Michael Mokofisi, DT, Woods Cross

In their season opening shutout loss, 19-0 to Westlake, Mokofisi recorded two tackles. They lost to West last week, 27-15. Mokofisi finished with six tackles in the game.

This week, Woods Cross will travel to No. 8 Brighton on Friday at 7 p.m.

Jeff Bassa, WR/S, Kearns

Bassa returned a kickoff 85-yards for a touchdown against Box Elder in Week 1 along with two catches for 16 yards. He has 10 tackles on the season thus far.

Last season, Bassa racked up 53 tackles, 28 solo takedowns, 8 tackles for loss, 2 sacks and 2 interceptions.

Bassa and the ninth ranked Cougars will host No. 17 Olympus in the Game Night Live Game of the Week. The game will kickoff at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on KSLSports.com and the KSL 5 TV app.

Dallin Havea, ATH, Provo

In Week 1, Havea rushed for 63 yards and one touchdown on 12 carries in Provo’s 14-7 win over Logan. Last week, Havea did not record any statistics in their 30-13 loss to Westlake.

Provo’s game against Timpview that was scheduled for Friday was canceled after players on the Provo roster tested positive for COVID-19.

2022 Targets

Darrius Clemons, WR, Pleasant Grove

After transferring to Pleasant Grove from Portland, Oregon, Darrius Clemons is making a splash in the beehive state. In the Vikings’ 35-7 win over Riverton, Clemons hauled in 3 receptions for 159 yards and two touchdowns.

Clemons added 6 catches for 116 yards and one touchdown while running the ball once for five yards in PG’s 19-14 win over Maple Mountain.

No. 6 Pleasant Grove will host Jordan at 7 p.m. on Friday.

According to 247Sports, Clemons is “warm” to Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon, Oregon State, Penn State, Stanford and Washington.

Luke Hyde, WR, Woods Cross

Hyde carried the ball seven times for -2 yards in their 19-0 loss to Westlake in Week 1. He also threw for 103 yards on 18 of 31 passing. Hyde even had a tackle on defense.

Last week in their 27-15 defeat at the hands of West, Hyde ran the ball 13 times for 51 yards, threw 8 passes for 98 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Also, he made one tackle on defense.

This week, Woods Cross will travel to No. 8 Brighton on Friday at 7 p.m.

Hyde’s only offer to this point is from Utah but has received interest from BYU, California, Northwestern, Stanford and Utah State.

George Maile, OG, Bingham

In Bingham’s only game this season, which was a 35-7 loss to Skyridge, Maile, the offensive line and Bingham’s offense scored seven points.

No. 10 Bingham will host No. 1 Corner Canyon on Friday at 8 p.m. on ESPN.

Maile has received a lot of interest so far in his recruitment, receiving offers from USC, Nebraska, Oregon and Utah State. According to 247Sports, Maile is “warm” to USC and Utah.

Weylin Lapuaho, OG, Bingham

In Bingham’s only game this season, which was a 35-7 loss to Skyridge, Weylin Lapuaho, the offensive line and Bingham’s offense scored seven points.

No. 10 Bingham will host No. 1 Corner Canyon on Friday at 8 p.m. on ESPN.

To this point, Lapuaho has received one offer and that was from Utah.

Lander Barton, OLB, Brighton

Brighton opened the season with a 56-42 win over Fremont two weeks ago. Barton caught two passes for 37 yards and one touchdown. On defense, he picked up 14 tackles, one sack and an interception.

Last week in their 38-7 win over Layton, Barton finished with two catches for 20 yards and one touchdown. On defense, he recorded 11 tackles and half of a sack.

No. 8 Brighton will host Woods Cross on Friday at 7 p.m.

Barton has received six offers so far in his recruitment, including Arizona State, Nebraska, Oregon, Stanford, Utah and Washington.

Aisea Moa, ATH, Weber

Weber’s first game of the season was canceled after Bingham had three players test positive for COVID-19. Their season opener was last week in a 28-3 win over Bountiful. In the win over the Braves, Moa recorded three total tackles, including two sacks.

Weber will host Clearfield in Region 1 action on Friday at 7 p.m.

Moa has received three offers, all in-state, to BYU, Utah and Utah State.

Puna Alatini, ATH, Timpview

In Timpview’s season opening shutout loss to Lone Peak, 24-0, Alatini did not record any statistics. Against American Fork, Alatini had three tackles and one interception in their 31-21 loss.

Timpview’s game against Provo on Friday was canceled after Provo had players test positive for COVID-19.

Alatini has received one offer thus far and that is to Utah.
