SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Fans of basketball in Cache Valley have a lot to be thankful for in regards to the Utah State basketball program this holiday season.
At face value, the upcoming 2020-21 college basketball season might seem like a down year with the departure of guys like Sam Merrill and Abel Porter.
So grateful for this opportunity! #FeerTheDeer https://t.co/8UgH8pwduV

Even Utah State’s opener against Wichita State has been canceled.
Despite some negatives, things are going well for Aggie Nation.
In 2019-20, Utah State capped a 26-8 record with a win over No. 5 San Diego State to capture a second straight Mountain West tourney title.
After the season, head coach Craig Smith, who’s been discussed by many as a potential hire for Power Five schools, remained as the Aggies’ lead man.
USU big man Neemias Queta decided to stay in Logan instead of leaving early to pursue a career in professional basketball.
In November 2020, Merrill was selected during the 2020 NBA Draft and traded to the Milwaukee Bucks.
In the face of a pandemic, things are moving in a positive direction for Smith’s squad.
