Citing an unwillingness to lose a particular battle in recruiting, Calhoun talked about his decision to give back to the school.
“We’ve got to fight for players, and we’re going to have more battles,” Calhoun began. “We’re going to have to win along the way. We’re going to win some. We’re going to lose some. That was one I was not willing to lose. I was not going to do that, right? My wife and I are in a really good place financially. We just donated $150,000 to our retention fund to keep our players coming back.”

“Utah State University and the city of Logan are special, and our men’s basketball program and student-athletes play a pivotal role on campus and in the community, creating lasting memories for generations of Aggies,” Calhoun said. “In the new era of intercollegiate athletics, it is paramount that Aggie Nation continue to support those outstanding student-athletes, while looking towards the future and finding the next amazing group of Aggie leaders. Financial gifts to the Wayne Estes Fund are transformational for the program and provide the necessary resources to put a championship-level team on the court.”
