Rose closed his college career at BYU during the 2016-17 season. When Rose transferred to BYU from Houston in 2016, he was the first graduate transfer under former BYU head coach Dave Rose.
Rose’s father, Lynden Sr., was a teammate of Dave Rose during Houston’s Phi Slama Jama era in the early 1980s.
LJ Rose started in 25 games during his one season at BYU before suffering a knee injury that sidelined him for the season’s final month. He was a team captain during his one year in Provo.
After a season at BYU, he played in the G-League for the Salt Lake City Stars, then continued his career overseas.
Rose then transitioned into jobs away from the court. In 2021, he became a scout for the Houston Rockets. ESPN’s Jeff Borzello also noted that Rose is the General Manager of the Bahamas National Team.
BYU could face Rose and the Hurricanes during the 2025-26 season. Miami and BYU are reportedly slated to play in a four-team multi-team event in Orlando during Thanksgiving week. The other teams include Georgetown and Dayton.
