PROVO, Utah – BYU football had a list of notable recruits on Monday at spring practice.
The headliner was 2026 five-star quarterback prospect Ryder Lyons.
The Folsom, California prospect, ranked as the 16th overall recruit in the 247Sports Composite recruiting rankings, was at BYU’s spring practice.

Lyons posted a photo on his X account of himself at BYU’s practice alongside four-star tight end Brock Harris from Pine View High School and twin brothers Jaron (four-star WR) and Kennan Pula (three-star WR) of Lone Peak High School. The Pula brothers played at Timpview High last season and are currently UCLA commits.
The Folsom High signal-caller has some of the top schools in the country pursuing him. Along with BYU, Michigan, Oregon, USC, and Ole Miss are some of the notables.
Lyons is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and plans to serve a mission before enrolling at his chosen school.
Last football season, Lyons visited Provo twice for a pair of games at LaVell Edwards Stadium. He attended BYU’s season opener against Southern Illinois and the November home game against Kansas.
Before the Kansas game, BYU’s student section, “The ROC,” had chants of “We want Ryder” for the five-star prospect.
The Cougars have not landed a five-star quarterback recruit since Kalani Sitake became BYU’s head coach in 2016. However, they have produced two high school recruits into NFL quarterbacks in Sitake’s tenure, with Zach Wilson and Jaren Hall.
