He added, “Blessed to have so much love and support during this time and always! Thank you and love you all! Home is where God says it is. When he says move, you MOVE! All Glory to Him!”
Taumoepeau was one of the top prospects in Utah during the 2025 cycle.
He’s a four-star prospect in the 247Sports rankings and is rated as the 224th prospect in the country.
Taumoepeau is a three-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite, which aggregates the rankings of all the major recruiting services. He is ranked 580th nationally.
In Utah, Taumoepeau was rated by 247Sports as the third-best recruit. That gives BYU two of the top five in-state prospects during the 2025 cycle, joining Lone Peak High’s Austin Pay, who recently left to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Highly productive player at Westlake High School
Taumoepeau was a highly productive pass rusher during his senior year at Westlake. In 2024, he had 88 tackles and 13 sacks for Westlake.
BYU loaded up on edge rushers during the 2025 cycle. The addition of Taumoepeau joins former Utah signee Hunter Clegg, Texas transfer Tausili Akana, Vincent Tautua from Honolulu, Hawaii, Ulavai Fetuli out of La Habra, California, and Taumoepeau’s high school teammate, Sale Fano.
BYU’s recruiting class was now bumped up to No. 55 in the overall composite of the team recruiting rankings in the 2025 cycle, by 247Sports.
