PROVO, Utah – The BYU football quarterback battle rolls on into week three of fall camp practices.
Local media had the chance to observe more than 25 minutes of practice on Tuesday. True freshman Bear Bachmeier was the only quarterback during that media window to get snaps with the first team quarterbacks.
I shared my observations of what I saw during Tuesday’s practice on the latest episode of the Cougar Tracks Podcast.
BYU Football practice observations
Along with practice observations and intel, you’ll hear a conversation with BYU cornerbacks coach Jernaro Gilford.
The 10th-year cornerbacks coach and former BYU great broke down his position group, noting it will be a unit “by committee” this fall as they look to replace Jakob Robinson, who is now with the San Francisco 49ers, and Marque Collins, who is competing in the CFL.

Some of the key players to watch at cornerback for BYU in 2025 include Mory Bamba, Therrian “Tre” Alexander, Evan Johnson, Jayden Dunlap, and Marcus McKenzie.
We also dive into the nickel position as Jonathan Kabeya, San Diego State transfer Tayvion Beasley, and true freshman Cannon DeVries compete at that spot.
