SALT LAKE CITY – According to reports, the Utah Mammoth are trading left winger Matias Maccelli to the Toronto Maple Leafs for a third-round pick.
NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman first broke the news on Monday, June 30.
Trade confirmed now: Matias Maccelli has been moved to Toronto for the Leafs 3rd Round Draft Pick in 2027 (conditional).
It can be upgraded to a 2029 second round selection if Maccelli records 51 points during the 25-26 season & if the Leafs make the 26 playoffs.

The 2027 third-round pick is conditional and could be upgraded to a 2029 second-rounder if certain standards are met.
If Maccelli records 51 points and the Maple Leafs make the postseason, the pick will be switched.
Another important aspect of the trade: Maccelli’s salary will come completely off the books for the Mammoth. That will open up $18 million for Utah as the 2025 free agency period starts.
That’s big.
Utah now has $18M to spend after opening up Maccelli’s space. https://t.co/dDiJflOIqq

Maccelli played in 55 games for Utah in its inaugural season. He averaged just under 14 minutes on the ice per game and posted 18 total points with eight goals.
The trade leaves the Mammoth short on the left wing. With Michael Carcone’s expected departure, Lawson Crouse is the only player left in that position.
With goalkeeper also being a position of need, it should be busy next couple of weeks for the Mammoth.
