While it took the Americans nearly 30 minutes to really settle into their game against Finland, Mammoth center Logan Cooley delivered a gorgeous, well-placed saucer pass to Vancouver’s Conor Garland who then buried it up high and gave the U.S. an early 1-0 lead.

Registering his ninth and tenth point of the tournament, Logan Cooley is now tied with Clayton Keller for the second-most points for Team USA at the World Championships.
Despite falling behind early in the second period, the United States absolutely exploded offensively with three unanswered goals to establish a 4-2 lead in the third period against Finland.
“I really liked how we stayed with it and built as the game wore on,” U.S. head coach Ryan Warsofsky told USA Hockey. “We got off to a bit of a slow start, but really found our game as time wore on. I give our guys a lot of credit as they beat an excellent hockey team today.”

Once the Finns pulled their goaltender, Keller fired a puck deep from his own end and awarded the Americans with an insurance goal to seal the deal.
