SALT LAKE CITY – According to Head Coach Andre Tourigny, Utah Hockey Club star-defenseman Mikhail Sergachev is out tonight and considered day-to-day with an upper-body injury.

Despite playing a team-high 22 minutes against the New York Rangers on Thursday night, Sergachev did not finish the game and was absent during Utah’s six-on-five during the final few minutes.

“He’s banged up a little bit,” Tourigny said. “Should be day to day.”

While Sergachev was present for part of Utah’s morning skate on Saturday, he ultimately departed early and will not play against the St. Louis Blues.

With Sergachev out, Nick DeSimone will return to the lineup and play alongside Juuso Valimaki while John Marino moves up to the top pairing with Olli Maatta.

This marks the first game that Sergachev will miss for the Utah Hockey Club since being acquired by the team this past offseason.

In 44 games, No. 98 has been an absolute warrior for Utah as a league leader in average ice time, NHL shifts and shorthanded minutes.

Notably, He’s also registered 8 goals and 22 assists thus far.

Sergachev’s first opportunity to return to the lineup will be on Monday night against the Winnipeg Jets.
