COLUMBUS, Ohio – For the second straight game, Dylan Guenther was the hero for the Utah Hockey Club as he lit the lamp in overtime to secure two points against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Despite a solid opening period, Utah trailed 1-0 after the first. They went on to outscore Columbus 2-1 in the second and a scoreless third period set up overtime.
With a rare assist from goaltender Connor Ingram, Guenther scored the game-winner in a second straight game to give Utah a victory on their first game of the road trip.
Up next, the Utah Hockey Club will travel to Lenovo Center on Saturday for an early game against the Carolina Hurricane.
Per Tourigny,
Connor Ingram will start in net tonight against Columbus.

With Crouse back on the third line with Doan and McBain, that group has the potential to cause a lot of problems for the opposition.
Big bodies who can suffocate teams in the O-zone.
Be interesting to see how they play together and how Crouse responds.

Good to see Utah’s defensemen getting involved offensively over the last few shifts.
Kesselring attacked the zone deep, Sergachev took a shot with traffic in front, and Marino crashed the net after recognizing that Keller was going to stay high.

Honestly, pretty good period for Utah aside from an unfortunate bounce that Columbus capitalized on.
Utah dominated the faceoff circle (57%), outshot Columbus 10-3, & generated consistent O-zone possession.
Need to keep playing the same way & good things should happen. https://t.co/4sJh1p27MP

LAWSON CROUSE SCORES IN HIS RETURN!!!!!
WHAT A PASS FROM JOSH DOAN!
1-1 in Columbus.
β Cole Bagley (@BagleyKSLsports) February 7, 2025
Just an excellent play all the way around.
Suffocating pressure from the third line to generate a turnover, absolutely STELLAR work from Josh to draw in the defense and then set up Crouse who was calling for it. https://t.co/GuFevFCbwo

NICK BJUGSTAD SCORES AND UTAH LEADS 2-1 IN COLUMBUS.
Great pass from Maatta and what a finish from Bjugstad.
Utah is buzzing.
β Cole Bagley (@BagleyKSLsports) February 7, 2025
Correction. Maatta has been credited with the goal as it deflected off the skate of a Columbus skater.
Still, great work from him and Bjugstad to put the puck in the net. https://t.co/dnHc5P0U4B

Get pucks to the net, crash hard, and good things will happen.
Great feed from Maatta that winds up in the back of the net but not without the effort of Bjugstad crashing. https://t.co/Tp5nsq0LdO

Ian Cole making veteran plays.
Looked like he stuck his skate out to break up a pass across the slot in close to deny a Grade A chance.
Utah has been a very good fit for Cole.

Kesselring dancing with Severson.
Not the best fight but Kess stood up for himself after Severson approached him for a hit he delivered on one of his teammates right before.
Severson has also been charged with a penalty for roughing.
Utah to the power play.

Utah needs to win this game.
Each of these 3 contests on the road are critical if they want to keep any playoff hopes alive.
Through 2 periods, Utah has outshot Columbus 22-12 and generated 19:28 in offensive zone.
Couple mistakes have kept Columbus in it. Gotta dig deep.

Utah with a few really nice chances in close to end the period but they can’t find the back of the net.
Off to another OT we go. Each team gets a point.
Utah will have a 4 on 3 for 38 seconds to begin OT.
β Cole Bagley (@BagleyKSLsports) February 7, 2025
Surprisingly we have not had a stoppage of play since the penalty expired so OT has been played as 4 on 4.
β Cole Bagley (@BagleyKSLsports) February 7, 2025
Now we have a stoppage, it’ll be 3 on 3 the rest of the way.
