SALT LAKE CITY – The first period didnt go as Utah hoped but Jack McBain kept the Delta Center crowd invested as he dropped the gloves with Tyler Tucker.

At the time, the score was knotted at 0-0. McBain appeared to be the altercation victor which always put a little wind in the team’s sails.

Unfortunately, this did not really pan out for Utah.

The game remained scoreless for a little over five minutes but ultimately it was the Blues who struck first.

St. Louis scored from close range and took their 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

In the first period, St. Louis held a 15 to 6 advantage in shots on goal. They also won 70 percent of the 20 faceoffs, blocked one more shot than Utah, and also came out with four more takeaways.

Slow first periods are not foreign to the Hockey Club. But now, it comes down to if they have enough fight to make a comeback.

Utah Hockey Club Faces Familiar Foe As They Look To End Losing Streak

The Utah Hockey Club will welcome the St. Louis Blues into Delta Center for the second time this season. It will be the third time overall that the Hockey Club and Blues will face off though.

In both games, Utah came out on top with two 4-2 victories.

However, they are still without Dylan Guenther and just lost Logan Cooley. The Hockey Club’s bread and butter so far this season has been pace and a potent attack. With two top offensive talents sidelined, the Blues are looking to scale the mountain in downtown Salt Lake City on Sunday.

Pregame Standings Outlook

Before the third of four matchups between St. Louis and Utah, the two teams sat right next to one another in the standings.

With a 21-21-9 record, Utah sits fifth in the Central Division and 10th in the Western Conference. At 23-25-4, St. Louis holds the sixth spot in the division and the 11th in the conference.

The Hockey Club has an 8-11-6 record at home while the Blues are 12-12-3 on the road. Both teams came into the game on a four-game losing streak.
