SALT LAKE CITY- The Utah Hockey Club sought to hit the breaks on their five-game slide as they welcomed the Philadelphia Flyers to town on the last night of a four-game stand at Delta Center. Following tonight, Utah will hit the road for four in a row and will not return to their home ice until the end of the month.
In the first period, the Philadelphia Flyers broke their three-game scoreless streak with a goal in the first five minutes, taking an early lead.
For the better part of the first period after that, neither team could find much and the crowd was searching for anything to get excited about. Then just before the break, a tussle behind the net led to a fight between Liam O’Brien and Nicolas Deslauriers. Both heavyweights traded punches and O’Brien hyped up the Utah Hockey Club fans on his way off the ice.
Utah took that momentum into the locker room and found the equalizing goal when Dylan Guenther led a charge into the offensive zone that ended in a goal from Mikhail Sergachev. However, the tie didn’t last long as Tyson Foerster snuck behind the Utah defense and tipped a pass into the net to put the Flyers up 2-1.
The rest of the second period saw several penalties and stoppages. Philadelphia would put another puck into the net, but it was overturned because of an offside call. Additionally, the Flyers took three penalties in the period, but Utah went 0-3, unable to capitalize on the opportunities and the period ended 2-1 in favor of Philadelphia.
Throughout the second period and deep into the third period, Utah dominated the ice, gaining several more scoring chances than their opponent, but Flyers goalie Samuel Ersson was putting on a shot in net to keep his team ahead.
All the hard work paid off for Utah, however, when Dylan Guenther broke away and sent a no-look shot into the back of the net to tie the game at two goals a piece.
Utah and Philadelphia spent the rest of the period tied and headed to overtime, nothing new for Utah Hockey Club fans. This time, however, fans went home happy after Dylan Guenther beat the buzzer with his second goal of the night to win it for Utah.

The Flyers first period goal against Utah is their first goal in 3 games since playing the Devils on Jan. 27.

Third line has looked solid tonight in the offensive zone.
McBain and Doan bring so much physicality that it traps the D an generates extra opportunities.

Liam O'Brien dropped the gloves with Deslauriers.
O'Brien has some battle scars after that one and his nose wasn't looking great but my goodness, that man brings ENERGY.
Hyped the crowd on his way to the box. Never change Tuna.

What a save by Ersson essentially at the buzzer.
2 on 0 for Bjugstad and Stenlund. Somehow Ersson denied the one-timer.
Score remains 1-0 Philadelphia at the end of the 1st period.
