SALT LAKE CITY – Utah’s first-ever first-round picks, Tij Iginla and Cole Beaudoin (6th and 24th overall) are having an amazing summer.
After becoming first-round draft picks in Vegas, they were flown to Park City, Utah, to attend their first-ever NHL development camps.
Next, they played in the first-ever development camp scrimmage in front of thousands of fans at the Delta Center in Salt Lake, and then both signed entry-level contracts.
Tij Iginla wasn’t the only top prospect @utahhockeyclub nabbed in Round 1 of the 2024 Upper Deck #NHLDraft. They traded up to land Cole Beaudoin No. 24 and think he could be a game changer in Utah.

Iginla and Beaudoin were also named to Team Canada for the upcoming IIHF Summer Showcase in Plymouth, Michigan.
The event, which serves as an evaluation camp for the 2025 World Junior Championship roster selection, will feature several games involving players from the United States, Sweden, Finland, and Canada.
The United States will have 46 players in their camp split between two rosters; Sweden has 26 players coming over, while Finland has 25.
All three teams will spend most of their time at USA Hockey Arena.
Canada has invited 41 players to its camp, which will be held primarily in Windsor, Ontario. The Canadians will play a split-squad game on July 30, and a consolidated roster will play Sweden the next night before they hop the border for a pair of games in Plymouth, culminating with a showdown vs. Team USA on August 3.
Most players participating in this event are drafted or will be drafted, including two top prospects for the 2025 NHL Draft, James Hagens of the United States and Porter Martone of Canada.
The games started on Sunday, the 28, and continue through Saturday, August 3.
Utah Hockey Club also has players on other teams in the showcase. Goalie Carsen Musser is the only UHC player on the Team USA roster, while forward Noel Nordh and goaltender Melker Thelin will play for Team Sweden.
