Two Utah Utes O-Linemen Make Outland Trophy Watchlist

SALT LAKE CITY – The star-studded Utah Ute offensive line duo of Caleb Lomu and Spencer Fano were named to the Outland Trophy Watchlist ahead of the 2025 college football season.
Fano and Lomu join 48 others on the watchlist. Utah is one of 13 programs nationwide to have two players selected to the list. Alabama and Oregon had three players named to the list.
Both players were named to the Preseason All-Big 12 Team earlier in July.

Fano made 12 starts at right tackle in 2024, earning First Team All-Big 12. The Spanish Fork, Utah, native was also named to the PFF First Team, Associated Press Second Team, and Walter Camp Second Team.
Fano did not allow a sack in the final 11 weeks of the season. He has played in 25 career games at Utah with 24 starts.

Lomu has made 15 appearances (12 starts) for the Utes. He started all 12 games in 2024 at left tackle. He was selected to the 2024 Midseason Freshman All-American list by The Athletic and made a pair of academic lists.
What is the Outland Trophy?
The Outland Trophy is given out annually by the Football Writers Association of America to the best interior lineman in college football. The award is in its 80th season and is the third-oldest college football award.
16 offensive tackles and 15 guards made this year’s list. Ten defensive tackles and nine centers appear.

Less than ten semifinalists will be named on November 19. The 2025 Outland Trophy will be announced during the College Football Awards show on December 12, 2025.
