Utah State Beats New Mexico, Clinches MWC Mountain Division

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah State football team defeated the New Mexico Lobos and received some help to clinch the Mountain Division of the Mountain West Conference.
The Aggies faced the Lobos at University Stadium in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Friday, November 26.
USU defeated UNM, 35-10.
Prior to the Aggies’ victory, the No. 21 San Diego State Aztecs beat the Boise State Broncos to open the conference title game door to Utah State, providing a win over the Lobos.
Utah State handled its business and clinched the Mountain Division. The Aggies will face the Aztecs in the conference’s championship game.

USU used a big first half to propel its 25-point win. After taking a 7-0 lead in the first quarter, the Aggies scored three touchdowns during the second quarter and took a 28-0 lead into the halftime break.
With a little over five minutes left in the third quarter, USU quarterback Logan Bonner tossed his fifth touchdown pass of the game and the Aggies extended their lead to 35-0.

Near the end of the quarter, the Lobos scored their first points of the contest on a field goal.
Late in the fourth quarter, New Mexico reached the end zone for the only time and made it a 35-10 game.

Bonner finished the game 16/23 passing for 306 yards and five touchdowns. Derek Wright led the Aggies’ receiving effort with four catches for 150 yards and two touchdowns.
With the win, the Aggies improved their record to 9-3 this season.

Utah State’s next game will be against San Diego State in the Mountain West Conference Championship game. The Aggies and Aztecs will play on Saturday, December 4 at 1 p.m. (MDT) on FOX.
