LOGAN, Utah- One year ago today, the Utah State Aggies Football account on X posted an April Fools’ joke, unveiling a funny new white helmet with blue cow prints, paying tribute to the school’s agricultural roots.
What Utah State could have never expected was the outpouring of positive reaction from Aggies fans, who loved the helmets and wanted them to become a reality.

What was first meant to be a silly gag turned into something more. After Utah State posted this design, fans were instantly in the comments.
I know this is a joke…. But can we please do this for one of the games???

There were nearly 100 comments on the X post, most of them being fans’ positive endorsements of an actual cow-themed helmet.
Because of the reaction, Utah State posted a poll in the comment section, asking Aggies fans a simple question: yes or no?
The poll showed a staggering amount of support for the helmets, with nearly 90% of the 3,683 votes saying yes.
Aggies, what do we think? 🧐

The backing from the fanbase and desire to see the helmets on the field was overwhelming, meaning the equipment managers had to get to work.
Months passed with no word, but finally, just weeks before the season was set to begin, the Aggies revealed that they would be wearing the new helmets for their home opener against Robert Morris.

In a press release about the helmets, USU Vice President and Director of Athletics Diana Sabau said, “We are honored to celebrate Utah State University’s long history of excellence in agricultural education with our alternate helmets. USU has been at the forefront of agricultural technologies and practices since its founding. The helmets provide us an opportunity to honor Utah State’s agricultural success and those who work to maintain its reputation as one of the leading agricultural schools in the nation.”
Then, on August 31, the Utah State Aggies rushed out of the tunnel at Maverik Stadium sporting the spotted helmets.

While nothing has been said about a second appearance of the helmets for this upcoming season, it would be awesome to see the Aggies pull them back out during their first year under Bronco Mendenhall.
